Today I will probably be acting as one of the most Anti-Americans who is actually pretty dang American and patriotic. "Why?" you ask? Because I'm in the middle of a burn ban in central Texas, so no county within an hours drive is doing any sort of fireworks show. Not only that but I'm not a devoted baseball fan or much into pies, yes, that includes apple pie.
The Independence days past I've; eaten bbq or stuff off the grill with my family, had apple pie and ice cream, and walked to the park behind our house to celebrate this great country. With a HUGE climbing wall, face painting, friends, family, food, and fireworks set off in a terrific display of light and color that seemed like something so exciting and yet was always so calming to me.
This year; no bbq or grill, no apple pie and ice cream, no fireworks, and the celebrations in the park I grew up at are now something it seems that we've all grown out of. Secretly, I'd still love to go...but I hate going to big celebrations like that by myself. Nope, instead, this year, my family is going to a friend's house to eat...something. Then, coming home to probably watch a war movie.
Since I'm not close with the family they're chilling with and I feel pretty sick to my stomach, (it's always me that's sick on the fun holidays) I've decided to stay home, curl up and try to feel better. Hopefully, I'll get the chance talk to a soldier friend that's across the sea...and if I feel REALLY good I'll do a little laundry. But we'll see... ;)
